Gordon C. Choate, 85, Prineville, Ore.
     
Gordon Christian Choate, 85, of Prineville, Ore., died at Pioneer Memorial Hospital in Prineville Friday, Dec. 1, 2000.
     
Gordon was born July 9, 1915, to Edward Z. and Lily J. Petersen Choate at the family home at Teakean, Idaho. He lived in and around the Teakean-Cavendish area until Nov. 11, 1995, when he moved to the Prineville area.
     
Gordon attended grade school at Teakean and graduated from Southwick High School. Before retiring, he was a farmer, logger and truck driver. He enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting.
     
On May 16, 1941, he married Zelma Gay Powell. She passed away June 17, 1963. From that marriage, Gordon has four sons, Garold Choate of Lewiston, Doug Choate of Renton, Wash., Don Choate and Ron Choate, both of Port Orchard, Wash.; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
     
He married Leora (Babe) Ogden Callison Franny on Jan. 8, 1977, at Powell Butte, Ore., and gained two daughters, Tessibelle Hartzell of Redmond, Ore., and Bethine Grimes of Prineville; a son, Neale Callison of Sisters, Ore.; 12 grandchildren; and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren.
     
In addition to his children, he is survived by his wife, Babe; a sister, Mamie Ogden of Teakean; and a brother, Jesse Choate of Utah.
     
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and two brothers.
     
Viewing will be from 2 to 7 p.m. today at Malcom's Brower-Wann Memorial Chapel in Lewiston. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Lewis-Clark Memorial Gardens in Lewiston with the Rev. Lloyd Weller officiating.
